Origins

TerraSur Team

Terra is land. Sur is south.

TerraSur is steeped in the rich tradition of furniture making of Santa Fe, Argentina, where love of craft, pride of skill and hard work are second nature.

Jessica D. Holmstrom founded TerraSur in 2008 to tap into this tradition and to keep it current with bold and inspired designs.

“We want to take you back to a time when furniture was made by master craftsmen rather than cookie-cutter machines and when a piece of furniture was meant to be functional but also timeless, like a work of art.”

Our Mission

Vivien Chest

Once the elements of craftsmanship and design are brought together, the next step is to offer a line that performs optimally in retail stores and showrooms to the trade. To achieve this mission, Jessica has built a company from the ground up with the capabilities necessary to provide our customers with excellent service, ever-improving quality, hassle-free operations, punctual lead times as well as targeted product development. Einar A. Elsner, TerraSur’s Executive VP, says:

“Every day is an opportunity to do a better job. Our job is to make sure our clients profit with our line. We value the floor space they give us and will never take it for granted.”

Our Partners in Argentina

Our partners have over 20 years of furniture making experience. Their know-how is rooted in the memory of their European ancestors, who migrated to Santa Fe in the mid-1800s and brought with them Old World wood crafting skills.

Nestled in the lush Pampas of northern Argentina, surrounded by flatlands as far as the eye can see, our partners’ manufacturing plant is run like a design studio or a high-efficiency furniture factory, depending on the job at hand.

With the design, engineering and production capabilities of a large factory, we can meet the high volume needs of the hospitality industry, but the core of our business are the high end retail and interior design markets, where craftsmanship and personal attention are paramount.

Reducing our ecological footprint is important to us. TerraSur is a member of the Sustainable Furnishings Council in the United States.

Design and Innovation

We love furniture, because we love design.

All design begins with an idea and a sketch and gradually develops into a full-fledged creation.

With TerraSur on your retail or showroom floor, you are guaranteed new and top-performance introductions at least twice a year in April and October at the High Point Furniture Market.

Richly textured, multilayered, hand-antiqued stained and painted finishes

After assembly, the clatter of the factory gives way to the quietude of our master finishers’ studio, where each piece of furniture is dressed up. No single piece is identical to the other, because hand-antiquing, hand-distressing and hand-rubbed finishing are subjective tasks, close in nature to art.

Hand-painted designs

When art meets furniture you get an heirloom. Some of our most successful pieces have design elements painted by hand by local artists in Santa Fe. The designs are drawn and painted directly on the wood, on leather or on canvas. Each piece evokes the individual expression of the artist.

Hand-Forged Metal & Hardware

Argentina is well known for its metal-craft. We will continue to expand the use of metal applications to our designs.

Plantation hardwoods

We use a plantation semi tropical hardwood from northern Argentina, a species with origins in Australia. Neither old growth forests nor rainforests are ever touched to source our wood.
